How many people are currently looking for Employment?
Published 1 year, 10 months ago in Making News.Hi all, Iam currently looking for employment in any industry. I have Advanced Diploma’s and the difficulty in getting a position is extreme. The excuse used is over qualification and yet people are being encouraged to keep updating their skills? The gov’t also claims we have a skills shortage and yet those with qualifications and possible not the work experience are not given a chance!!!!
I’am extremely frustrated and still looking for employment in Admin, Recruitment and or HR.
How many others are dealing with these employment issues?

hang in there… persistance pays. Also, we are near full employment! Might help if you are willing to try something which is not exactly in your sights but leaving open the possibility of moving into your chosen field when you have earned your colours.
best wishes
Massage your qualifications to meet the postion, dumb them down a little if you have too.
Stop applying for positions under your qualifications… Administration can be done by someone with a Certificate III in Business and they are cheaper!
Good luck and start using commonsense when you apply… You have the smarts now be craftier.
i have the same problem too.. i’m a student so i’m pretty povo and am lookin for a job in any field too.. but pref also a job in admin or customer service would be cool. i’m seekin but i’m having no success at finding :O)
i’m get pretty excited when i apply for the job but the rejection isn’t so good
Meinrosebud is correct, you are most likely going for positions that are too basic for the qualifications you have attained - try something different, something that perhaps you would not normally apply for, you may be surprised.
Perhaps going to a personnel agency, a reputable one - they may be able to assist you with what you are looking for.
I appreciate all the comments given to me any advice is better than none.
Yes jUwie applying for the jobs and getting to the interviews is very exciting as you feel that you are in.
I admit it is totally devastating when you are unsuccessful!
Any other hints for those looking for employment are MOST welcome. I have even been a volunteer for a not for profit organisation so I have governance experience and I’m still over looked. I would vertually take on any paid employment and they still dont take me on.
